You can always tell when music work is going on because normal life stuff kind of comes to a halt! I’ve been working with Sherri Youngward this week, revisiting my old life as a music producer. Sherri and I go WAY back, she actually introduced me to Aaron Sprinkle, who I worked with for a long time and ended up getting my own studio with Tooth and Nail through. She sang at our wedding too. Nowadays, every time I take a break from photography to do a music project I’m always simultaneously sad I stopped music and reminded of why I did. The long hours, the sore mouse hand, the bleeding ears, the caffeine shakes… I remember why I left this!
But this thing with Sherri is pretty mellow and really fun, just her and I in Scotty’s studio with some borrowed gear. (API channel strip, distressor and Wunder U-47!) She’s doing a really cool concept album, basically putting entire sections of the Bible to song to help people memorize them. And the songs aren’t the normal lame stuff that usually goes along with this sort of thing. It’s fun.
I’m exhausted from all this plus from going to see Dark Knight last night at midnight, but it was SOOOOO good. You all gotta see it.
This is why there’s no new photos this week until now.
Scotty jumped in for a song on guitar!
