Katelyn mentioned getting sunburned during a fun trip to Santa Monica, but it never got a proper blog. So, here we are! It was a last minute trip, brought on by the fact that Scotty’s 6 month relationship with a girl ended. It seems to be a Leavenworth tradition to get the kids out of town after a break-up, a very fun tradition which the Hodges will definitely continue in the far away future of teenage kids. Anyways, we went to this SWEET hotel in Santa Monica called Loew’s, right on the beach, reasonably priced and super rad. We did very little but hang out and walk around, it was brilliant. 

Katelyn was playing air drums in traffic.

She HATES having her picture taken and always refuses to smile, but I nabbed one still.

They had these weird statues by the pool. Plus the palm trees were fake. Scotty cozy’d up to this one for Katelyn while I was shaving in the locker room. (It was so cool, they have these free razors and shaving cream, I was like, “wow, now I want to shave.”)

This is a sweet store, if you have a lot of money to burn. Hence, I bought nothing here, but I felt cool.

We ended the trip with a trip to Coji’s, a sweet japanese restaurant where you sort of cook your own food. In the past I’ve been under-whelmed by this place but this time I added two spoonfuls of garlic to my water and suddenly everything tasted amazing.
