So, last weekend Katelyn turned 21, officially. We went to Lucky Strike, a bowling alley in Hollywood, for a good time with some friends and my mom and sister came down to join us as well. (My mom’s bday is the 24th, mine’s the 27th, so it was kinda all of our thing) After bowling we went to BJ’s for some sweet pazooki’s, courtesy of our manager friend Justin, super rad guy. Then it was off to the Angelino Hotel in LA. (Sidenote, I was reminded how much I don’t like LA during this trip. It has many cool things, but if you want to get to them, you’re better off walking)
Hotel Angelino.
Rad sister Taryn.
Quick nerd note: This is ISO 3200 pushed to almost 6400 I think. Seriously, the old 5D ROCKS if you know how to rock it.
The next day was just hanging out and then the next day was… hot air balloon rides! Temecula only has a few cool things, and hot air balloon are one of them. We didn’t know what to expect, it seems so crazy, perhaps dangerous, yet super old-time.
They put me to work getting the thing filled up. It was crazy cold.
They bring you down close to the vineyards and orchards. I thought we were gonna hit them, but we didn’t. (Insert funny comment here, as Katelyn keeps VETOING all my brilliant jokes.)
No that’s not me, but they were nice.
4000 feet in the air my friends! Pretty nuts. If you looked the other way you could see the ocean. You’d think it would be scary, but it’s not.
We landed literally 200 yards from our house! What are the odds? (our house pictured below, among a zillion others, I know. I was gonna do an arrow, but I ran out of time.)
Apparently this was the 2nd craziest landing our pilot ever had. It ended kinda fun though. Katelyn insisted that the guy that helped us come down take a picture of it. That’s my woman!
So there ya have it. Air balloon rides: highly recommended.
