By now, you will definitely recognize the gate in these photos! If you can’t tell, we’re on the preferred vendors list at Monteleone Meadows, so we get to shoot there quite a bit. Here’s Dustin and Katrina- a sweet couple that were so fun to take photos of! Katrina was willing to do anything! She wasn’t concerned about getting her dress dirty or grass stained, all she cared about was getting great photos. I love this attitude. Your dress is for you, not you for your dress. We’re able to do so much more when brides are willing to let their dress touch the ground. Another thing we are stoked about is the groomsmen photos. Dustin really wanted something different than Monteleone Meadows for the guy photos. Something a little cooler. He pointed us to this photo from a past wedding of what he was wanting-

We weren’t sure if there was anywhere around Monteleone where something like this could be accomplished. Dustin was going to keep his eye out for a spot. Well, the day of the wedding came and he still hadn’t found somewhere to do it. Zach and I split up- he took photos of the girls, while I went over to the guys house to take photos of them getting ready. This is something we don’t normally do, but happened to do this one day. It turned out to be a lucky break, because when I was driving back to Monteleone, I saw this amazing haystack in a field, literally 2 minutes away from Monteleone. The groom was following me over to the site, so when we parked I asked him what he thought and he loved it. So, we picked up Zach, all got back in our cars and went over there. A lesson to all photographers to always think outside of the box (and the wedding venue.) Congrats to Katrina and Dustin! On a side note, we just finished our 16th wedding this past weekend! We’re about half way through our weddings for this year, woo hoo!!!!! And 2010 is already shaping up to be an incredibly awesome year. We’re so thankful for a job we love.
The aforementioned groomsmen photos! (It reminds me of the movie Twister- I feel like a tornado is going to come take them away.)
Dustin and Katrina wrote their own vows. Katrina went first and said how one word came to her mind when she thought of Dustin, and that was thankful. When Dustin went he said, “When I think about you Katrina, one word comes to mind. Ironically, that word is thankful!” It was a cute, funny moment.
The bridesmaid dresses were gorgeous, extremely flattering and simply adorable. But, you won’t be able to get your hands on any, as they were hand made by the bride’s mom.
That black and white should have completed photo time with the bride and groom, but it didn’t. As Zach and I were eating dinner outside, the light was perfect. He started getting antsy and kept saying, “Gosh, this light is beautiful. Maybe I should just go grab them real quick to take a few photos on the dock. No, I won’t. Ah, but it’s so perfect out! OK! I’m doing it!” So he went and asked Dustin and Katrina if they were up for it and they totally were! Zach is just one of those people that is always an artist and constantly creating in his head. He can’t ever shut it off.
Love this one of the flower girl gettin’ her groove on.
And probably my favorite shots of the night.
**TRIAL NEW THING ALERT!!**

As usual….AWESOME! You two make magic…absolute magic. WOW!
I love your blogs, as far as the slide show I think if your not directly involved or know the people it is too long, too many pics. I know when it’s of my twins senior pics I’ll love going through the whole slide show, but if I don’t know the people I am gonna stick to the few blog pics. Love your guys style though, please don’t think I’m trashing the pics!!!
Wow, I like this set of photos. You captured that moment!
Zach,
I’m a big fan of yours. I think your work is outstanding and some of the better wedding photography I’ve seen. However, I do have one constructive idea to lend…you need to purchase a nice wooden or embellished hanger for your wedding dress shots. Most of these brides just have those cheesy plastic things, and I’ve noticed them in several of your shots. Those shots are always well-executed and awesome, but the plastic hanger detracts from it. Not trying it nit-pick, just lend some advice.
Keep truckin’…you rock.

I love the pics. Wish you guys were my wedding photo. I love the groomsmen pic, good thinking Katelyn. I think the slide show is a good idea. As Patsy said if you know the people then it’s good. So now the family and friends can view all the pics on your blog too. And plus we can see all the pics you don’t show us, and you can always skip or make the slide move faster….just my opinion.
Wow! Beautiful! Great job Zach and Katelyn. You”re amazing at what you do!
Dude, the one with the Bride and her father before walking down the aisle is ganster! Love it.
Zach! Wow! Great photos! I especially love the ones of the car and the bridesmaids laying on their backs in the grass. Kudos! Great colors!
Katelyn! Good job with the groomsmen!
I’m just finishing up the photos we took here the day after this wedding. And that gate was already old for before I got there. Thanks! Hahah!
But it’s great for photos.
As for the slide show… I have two immediate thoughts. First, aren’t there enough photos in this post already? And second is that that it’s great to be able to see the WHOLE wedding here on the blog. Especially for prospective clients who have no idea of ALL that you shoot on the wedding day. Plus family must love it.
The one thing I don’t like about this sideshow in particular is how jumpy it is when you mouse over it.
I think a link to a full screen sideshow at the end of the post might be better.
As a side note, where were the photos of the B&G in the golden grass taken?
@Brandon Wright- it’s off site. depending on the season it’s either there or it isn’t. We did a wedding there in April and it wasn’t there.
@ Brent good point, I’ll keep that in mind. I feel like something scary/bad is more likely to happen with switching hangers, but wood would look way cooler. Just another thing to carry around!
@ Kenny gangster? Now that’s a compliment about a wedding photo I’ve never gotten before! Makes me think though, besides the afraid for my life aspect, shooting a mob wedding would be sweet.
The reflection of the dudes in the hood of the car is my favorite!
I look at all your photos and I have to say they are the best I’ve seen. You guys are always so creative…I love the ring pics and the reflection in the car hood of the groomsmen, and the bridesmaids on the ground, very cleaverly done! Also the end photo walking to the limo, beautiful!!! And as for the slide show I loved it and really enjoy seeing all your work throughout the day, I would view each and everyone even if I don”t know the people!!! Great job!!!
Wow — you guys are absolutely amazing photographers! What camera and lenses do you shoot with? Love your stuff! Beautiful.
5ds and LOTS of lenses, mostly primes (i have a version of every focal length of prime lenses under 135mm, except the 14)
Thanks you guys are my favorite! (I’m a budding photographer going to school!)
