Oooooh Canada!

We’ve been planning this sweet vacation for a few months now, here’s what it was supposed to go like: We’d take a 3 day cruise to Vancouver (a gloriously cheap cruise I might add), spend a day in vancouver, then take a train to Seattle, spend a few days there, then fly to Oakland where my family is and where we also have a wedding and an engagement shoot, then take a train the rest of the way down. Well, that was all supposed to start 3 days ago, on Saturday.

But last Tuesday we got some bad news: The cruise had been cancelled! Who knew they could even do that?! So, we scrambled… and by we I mean Katelyn, cause she’s amazing at that stuff and I was still in “get all work done before vacation so I could really relax” mode, and made a new plan: Flight to Vancouver, one night in Vancouver, then drive to Whistler, 2 nights in Whistler, then back to Vancouver, 2 nights there, then the rest as planned. Our flight to Vancouver was out of the quaint little Palm Springs airport. We ended up having to stay up super late the night before packing (That’s always how it goes with us) and with one hour of sleep under our belts, we got to the Palm Springs airport. Getting in with all our camera crap and luggage was a breeze and we soon found ourselves getting breakfast with much time to spare.

Oooooh Canada!
Side story: While getting breakfast, we met the cutest old couple! The guy had an amazing koa ukelele and he took it out and played it an sang for us! Too cool. His wife talked to us for a long time, telling us all kinds of great stories from her life. She was quite a character. By the end of it all he was telling her they had to leave and to wrap it up and she was giving us their names and phone numbers while telling us we should come visit them in Oregon, they have a great view and blueberries. It was so cute!

So, back to the trip, the flight from Palm Springs gets delayed, then cancelled! Too much fog or something. DON'T THEY HAVE INSTRUMENTS OR SOME COMPUTER THING FOR THAT?! Oh, and by the way, they mentioned that they couldn't find us hotels because there was a CHEERLEADING COMPETITION going on and all the hotels were full. YES. AWESOME. So, while a throng of people mobbed the gate desk, Katelyn got on the laptop and made us a plan C: Rental car to LAX, then a different flight to Vancouver. We're not giving up that easy! I should mention that there were a lot of people that were originally going on the cruise, but by this point, only Katelyn's brother Scott and his girlfriend Jess were with us. So, we jammed ourselves into a small rental car and drove 2 hours to LAX.

At last we made to LAX, went through customs again, blissfully easy again, grabbed some lunch and coffee and at last got onto a plane.
Oooooh Canada!
The next morning we repacked and started the drive to Whistler. It was an incredibly beautiful drive, instantly making the previous day's hassle all worth while. Katelyn snapped some sweet shots on the drive.
Oooooh Canada! Oooooh Canada! Oooooh Canada! Oooooh Canada!
We stopped at Shannon Falls on the way for some photos.

This is called "The Chief", it's the 2nd largest chunk of Granite in the world.

At last we made it to Whistler!
Oooooh Canada!
This bus was behind us the whole time, we got a chuckle that it was called "Lamers." Sounds like a great tour.

Oooooh Canada! Oooooh Canada! Oooooh Canada!
Whistler is amazing, the whole town is buzzing with Olympic fever. This is where all the snow games are going to be held starting this Thursday!
Oooooh Canada!
Canada has these weird/cute little creature characters they've made for the Olympics. Not sure what they're for really, but we had our way with them anyways.

Really flattens your depth put, the opposite of what you would think you would want in a photo usually but totally works to trick your mind! Let’s hear it for breaking all the “rules”! Enjoy what’s left of your vacation!
