Here is the wedding of Cina and Kellie! You may remember them from their awesome zoo engagement shoot. They got married at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, which is a gorgeous venue. The ballroom there is absolutely stunning and the long reflection pool made the perfect backdrop for their ceremony. If you’re looking for a venue, we’d highly recommend this place! Cina and Kellie’s wedding was perfect. We had no idea at their engagement shoot, but Kellie is a full blown, type A planner and her wedding really reflected it, down to the choreographed dances and heartfelt, well written speeches. Their wedding party was also amazing. They had such great attitudes and were fun people and we really enjoyed our photo time with them. We want to give a shout out to their videographers- Drew and Chad from Shade Tree Films joined us that day and they were an absolute delight to work with. A little secret is that videographers and photographers don’t always get along, so we were really blown away by their attitudes and pure awesomeness, not to mention their work is outstanding. Go check ‘em out. A side story- the museum has a helicopter and apparently you aren’t allowed to take pictures with it. Zach learned this after a security guard with headset intact kicked them out! But, not before we scored some sweet, fun shots with it. Moral of the story- if you have a fun/slightly crazy idea, tell Zach and he’ll probably do it. Oh ya, they also had a unique idea- instead of a guest book they had their guests write them notes for their 10th anniversary. They put all of them in a box and will open them on their 10th anniversary. They recommended any predictions as far as kids and life goes as well as advice. I thought it was a very cute idea. Congrats Cina and Kellie- your wedding day was a blast!

At the end of June we shot the wedding of Juan and Lisa on the gorgeous Mammoth Mountain! Neither of us had been there before and it is absolutely breathtaking. The town is so cute and we enjoyed crepes and lattes and a scenic tour of Mammoth. Zach even got me to do a small hike (if you can even call it that) of .04 miles to see Devil’s Postpile- a cool rock formation. (Hey, .04 miles EACH way, we’re talking almost a full mile here people. Haha!) I was terrified of running into a bear the entire time and will probably never hike again. I am not a thrill/adventure seeker and would hyperventilate if I thought about running into a bear. Zach is the exact opposite. He loves hiking and adventure and thinks I’m crazy and unrealistic. But hey, why would the rangers give you the pamphlet “Be Bear Aware” if it wasn’t a legitimate threat?!? Juan and Lisa’s wedding was so much fun and their reception site was literally at the bottom of a ski slope. They actually had a brilliant idea that I wanted to share with all of our future wedding clients- they rented a party bus to drive them and their wedding party around Mammoth to lots of different locations. It was so easy and not to mention a lot of fun. The bus drove everyone (including us) from location to location easily and made it so convenient to grab a ton of different shots in a relatively short amount of time. Seriously BRILLIANT. The bride and groom and wedding party had a BLAST. We mentioned this idea to our upcoming San Francisco wedding and they are renting a stretch limo to take the entire wedding party around San Francisco! We are SO stoked! So, if you’re getting married in an area like San Francisco or Mammoth where there are tons of great locations to hit, consider renting a party bus or limo to take everyone around, give yourself plenty of time for photos and enjoy! We’re planning on visiting Mammoth Mountain on our own time soon! Congrats to Juan and Lisa!

A few weeks ago we had the immense pleasure of taking the photos of Jason and Rachel. We were supposed to be taking pictures of their hot air balloon ceremony, until the winds picked up and we got an email from Rachel explaining that the balloon had been canceled last minute! They secured another balloon in Palm Springs- about a 2 hour drive from Temecula, but unfortunately the balloons were significantly smaller than in Temecula, and we couldn’t join them. We were super bummed, but we got together with them a few days after their wedding to do a portrait session in the wine country of Temecula- where their balloon ride would have been. This was a unique shoot for us as Jason and Rachel are both deaf. The 4 of us trekked off into the wine country, me using the little sign I could scrounge up from the deep depths of my brain from 7th grade American sign language class, coupled with a pad and paper were all we needed! It was a lot of fun! Maybe one day we’ll get another opportunity shoot a hot air balloon wedding. Congrats Jason and Rachel!

Wow all our blog readers- long time no talk! Sorry for the very slooooooooooow roll out on blogs, but it’s been quite a busy month at the Hodges residence. Lots of work, engagement sessions and client meetings, but MOST importantly, the birth of our first niece! Willow Annabella was born March 1st and we went up to visit her in Washington last week. She is just darling and we’re so in love with her. Can you believe my sister was in labor a whopping 3 hours? Literally went from her house to being in the hospital holding Willow in her arms in under 3 hours. Lucky. Well without further ado, more photos! This is the wedding of David and Leah who got married in the bay area. This wedding was at the tail end of our infamous Canada trip- we went from LA-Vancouver-Whistler-Vancouver-Seattle-Benicia-San Francisco (for that engagement shoot you’ve all been looking at for so long)- home, so quite the journey. We got back and a few weeks later headed out to Tucson,AZ for a conference then a week after that headed up to Washington to see Willow. And that brings us to today- bags finally unpacked, no far away trips planned until our wedding at the end of next month in Philadelphia! Phew! This year is already flying by…and April, like last year, is going to be insane. Everyone loves April engagement photos…so keep your eyes peeled. Lots of new blogs coming soon!
