It doesn’t take long to realize where this engagement session was taken. Paul and Susan contacted us to shoot their engagement and wedding photos and accompanied their email with an amazing video of their engagement, where Paul proposes to Susan during the parade. It’s actually quite spectacular- Paul had a connection and got one of the character’s in the parade to ask, “Where’s Paul?” in the loud speaker of the float. Paul jumps up and waves his hands, you see Susan looking a bit bewildered. Then the lady says, “Paul has a special question to ask Susan.” Then he gets down on one knee and proposes. Of course, Susan is completely stunned. It’s pretty stinkin’ cute! They explained that they really wanted engagement photos there since they were engaged there. Well, since *isney is so protective of their property, we had to do an incognito session. It was a really chill day and we had a ton of fun! There are a zillion photo opportunities- you could spend a week here and still have new places to take photos.

We had the awesome opportunity to shoot our clients Cina and Kellie at the San Diego Zoo! We spent the day looking at animals, exhibits, eating ice cream and…oh ya, taking photos! It was an incredibly crowded Saturday and a bit hot for San Diego. Poor Cina was baking in his sweater! The zoo is really fun! If you have never been, we definitely recommend it. If you can, go on a weekday when it’s not so crowded so you can really see all the animals and you aren’t fighting against the masses for a spot in front of the lion’s cage! After the zoo we headed over to Balboa Park. It was a great day in San Diego and one of those times where we just can’t believe that this is our job. We love all of our clients and are thankful to be able to share your lives with you! Cina and Kellie are getting married in July at the Richard Nixon Museum and we’re STOKED to shoot there!

David and Jenna are very outdoorsy and wanted photos that reflected their camping/hiking/adventure side. Everyone always laughs at me when we go out in the “wilderness” because I militantly look for mountain lions. I am terrified of mountain lions and regardless of what everyone says they ARE here and they DO ATTACK people!!In fact, engagement sessions are the only time I’ll venture out into the wild. I digress. (At this point I should probably mention that this is Katelyn, not Zach.) David and Jenna were such troopers as it was absolutely freezing that day. I’d run back and forth in between locations to give Jenna her sweater and a brief moment of warmth. Hopefully in years to come they’ll forget the weather and just remember this brief, beautiful season of being engaged. We’ll be shooting David and Jenna’s wedding in January of 2011!

Here is the engagement session of Casey and Carolyn. We had a great time hanging out with them. Engagement sessions are so great because they give our clients and us a chance to hang out and get to know each other before the wedding day. When the wedding day rolls around, you know exactly what to expect. We met Casey and Carolyn out in San Juan Capistrano- a cute little city that we definitely want to return to. They bought us yummy cupcakes from Sprinkles, which is apparently a huge cupcake shop in Orange County. They were great! During the session, we asked them how they met. Casey is a police officer and started out saying, “Well…that’s a really interesting story. We met while I was working.” I asked if she got arrested jokingly and Casey responded, “Yes.” For a split second I thought, “YES! This is going to be the best story for the blog!” Then he said, “No, just joking. We met on the 4th of July while I was working.” Darn! Well, it ended up being a cute story that they’re sure to pass along to their kids and grandkids. Casey and Carolyn are getting married at Ponte Winery, so be sure to see their weddings photos in a few months!
