We love traveling and were so excited when Pat and Ashley contacted us to shoot their wedding in Philadelphia! They flew us out for their beautiful wedding at the Appleford Estate just outside of Philadelphia. We flew in a few days early and spent some time in Philly, exploring the historic sites and eating ridiculously good Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. I was a bit skeptical about the sandwiches, “Come on, they really can’t be that much better in Philly,” I thought. But they really were so good! Just writing about it is making my mouth water and now I want one! I guess I’ll have to settle for…Subway. The venue was really fabulous as far as wedding venues go. It was on a huge estate with mature, breathtaking landscaping…does this sound like a real estate ad? It was in a beautiful part of this little town and we were told by the locals that the houses, or rather mansions, in this particular area sold for about 10 million dollars. Ashley is a wedding planner herself, so the wedding had a lot of great little details. One of my favorite details was a hot dog cart that they hired to come a few hours after dinner! It was a huge hit! Typically meals at weddings are sort of small and after a few hours of dancing people are getting hungry again. I thought it was such a great idea- and so did their guests! Another thing they did was instead of giving favors to their guests they made cards which explained that they had donated money to an animal rescue foundation. I’ve seen this done before with charities- the bride and the groom briefly explain to their guests what the charity is about and how they’ve donated money in their guests name in place of favors and everyone seems moved and honored by their donation more than they would by having a bag of M&M’s to take home. These are just some of the small details that stuck out to me. Well, this was one of several weddings where we’ll be traveling this year! Maybe eventually we’ll upload our personal photos from our day in Philly! Congrats Pat and Ashley!

They’re soooo good!) but she stuck it out anyways and we had a great time. This was only a few days ago and already we’re getting text updates about how close to being here this baby really is! We’re gonna have a niece super soon!!!

We’ve been planning this sweet vacation for a few months now, here’s what it was supposed to go like: We’d take a 3 day cruise to Vancouver (a gloriously cheap cruise I might add), spend a day in vancouver, then take a train to Seattle, spend a few days there, then fly to Oakland where my family is and where we also have a wedding and an engagement shoot, then take a train the rest of the way down. Well, that was all supposed to start 3 days ago, on Saturday.

But last Tuesday we got some bad news: The cruise had been cancelled! Who knew they could even do that?! So, we scrambled… and by we I mean Katelyn, cause she’s amazing at that stuff and I was still in “get all work done before vacation so I could really relax” mode, and made a new plan: Flight to Vancouver, one night in Vancouver, then drive to Whistler, 2 nights in Whistler, then back to Vancouver, 2 nights there, then the rest as planned. Our flight to Vancouver was out of the quaint little Palm Springs airport. We ended up having to stay up super late the night before packing (That’s always how it goes with us) and with one hour of sleep under our belts, we got to the Palm Springs airport. Getting in with all our camera crap and luggage was a breeze and we soon found ourselves getting breakfast with much time to spare.
